I've tried AVG...a lot of people say it isn't that great at picking up viruses, trojans, etc. I've tried Avast! antivirus...a lot of people rail on that one as not being very good, either (though it uses a lot less system resources). I have a 90 day trial of Norton Internet Security that has free updates, which came with the software on my computer. I know that Norton is a system resources hog. What do other people use to keep their computer safe from viruses, trojans, etc. for secure online banking and such?
Which AntiVirus/Security program is better?downloads
Well, there is no denying that Norton Antivirus is a computer resource hog. And, there is no denying that AVG Antivirus has a lower detection and removal rate than many other popular antivirus programs including: Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, BitDefender and Trend Micro.
If you want to stick with a free antivirus program, try Antivir. You can find it at http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivi...
PC World Magazine did a review of both free and commercial antivirus programs. Among the free antivirus prorams, Antivir had the highest detection and removal rate - it even beat out some commerical antivirus programs. Here is the link to the review http://www.pcworld.com/article/124475-1/...
While antivirus programs can detect and remove viruses and Trojans Horses, they aren't very good at detecting spyware, which are responsible for stealing passwords and users id's. So, it is best if you install an anti spyware program as well. There are plenty of free anti spyware programs so there is no need to spend any money. You can find several free programs at http://www.filehippo.com/software/antisp...
