How can we detect and delete virus in our system without any antivirus?virus

Article by lolita is very good, may be it will provide a good help.

Still I will add very small tips.

Look for tasks which are running from Task Manager, if you find tasks which are not initiated by you try to close this tasks.

Some tasks are critical and cannot be closed like svchost

If some task is closed and it reappears it means that this is sort of virus.

Viruses are very tricky they will keep lot of backups and disable your rights for accessing them.

msconfig32 is also one command which can be used from start -%26gt; to know what are the startup programs, you can judge by self by checking the details of these files by Right clicking properties and checking name etc in version tab. If you find reliable info, then keep the task else rename the file.

You can even check for services which are running in the background by Start-%26gt;Run-%26gt; Services.msc

Check for reliable services, else remove this services from registry.

It is really a cumbersome task, but not difficult, practice makes men (women also) perfect, after softwares are developed by human with some logics, above are the some logics, but what software does is, it check inside the file also, which can not be done by us, unless with some reverse engineering knowledge,

AVAST is free at Snapfiles freeware. Works great!

The firewall and anti spy-ware are also worth while.

If you use the Free Anti-Virus provided by AT&T Yahoo, do you trust it?

My Norton Internet Security is expiring soon %26 I'm planning to get ZoneAlarm Pro for firewall. Have you have good or bad experiences with the CA Antivirus provided free by AT%26T Yahoo? If it's not good, I'll either get the ZoneAlarm suite or upgrade my Norton.

If you use the Free Anti-Virus provided by AT%26T Yahoo, do you trust it?vista

First of all you need to understand that the AT%26T Yahoo protection package is not free. You are paying for it as part of your DSL fees.

I use the package and am very happy with it. I recommend it highly. I have been infection free for almost a year. I use this package with two additional programs and get great protection. I use the Window Defender Beta 2 and SpywareBlaster with my package. The additional Anti-Spyware programs are necessary since no single AS program can protect against all the Spyware on the net.

Get WDB2 and use the learning sites to set it up and use it properly and you will get great protection from it.

Get SpywareBlaster here:

I also recommend you read this site. You will learn a lot about malware and protecting your computer. It is well worth the investment (because you get a great return) of time.

  • Helpppppppppp! I don't want to spend money AGAIN, how do I get rid of Norton Antivirus AND viru

I remembered that because I have Comcast internet, I can get McAfee AntiVirus for free, so I downloaded it. Yet, I cannot fully download it (I don't get the virus scan out of all things!) because I still have an old version of Norton AntiVirus on my computer. The Auto-Protect won't enable no matter how many times I try so I'm ready to get rid of it. The problem is, I need the original CD to get it off my computer. I don't have it! I really need to rid my computer of viruses, FAST! Is there any way I can do this without the CD? Please help!

Also, if I can do that, I want to download McAfee again to run the scan but I'm afraid my system might be reinfected by System Restore. Apparently, I'm supposed to turn System Restore off, reboot in Safe Mode, run the scan, and then turn on the computer as well as System Restore, again. How do I do this? I need detailed answers, please help!

I just had to uninstall Norton off my grandma's computer because it was blocking her new cable internet... *shakes head*

Norton actually has a program you can download to uninstall it. I'm putting the link to the one I used for my grandma's computer as the source, so hopefully that will help you!

Good luck, Norton's a silly little program.

    Antivirus dilemma..?

i happen to like both the avg free edition and the mcafee internet security that i have right now. is there anything wrong in keeping both of them? if so.. which do you think should i keep? i cannot afford upgrading my avg to internet security so i have to install mcafee internet security that i got for free instead, with antivirus, firewall and all.

and also, what do you think of norton internet security 2008? i got a full edition of it for free but is not installing it yet. i am thinking of just replacing both avg and mcafee with it.

    Antivirus dilemma..?

    mcafee is like a virus

Use zonealarm Pro and AVG or sophos

    Antivirus dilemma..?antivirus downloads

actually you should never install more than 1 anti virus, they both interfere with each other, norton is complete crap and dosent detect anything, mcafee uses alot of system resources, and avg is basicly like norton if you want a really good antivirus, download nod32, its been proven that its the best antivirus available, heres the link to get the full version for free, this is 100% legal

if you dont have a torrent downloader, get utorrent, it uses less system resources than any other program,

I would boot McAfee and Norton, keep AVG free edition. If you are using Windows XP you can use that firewall, if you have a router it probably has a built in firewall. Take a look below for what i use on both my gaming pcs. All are freeware programs.

Which anit virus program is better? Norton Anti Virus? or the virus progam that SBC provides you wit

Nortorn鈥檚 Anti Virus is one of the top choices today that you can purchase.

I am not a total Symantec (They own Nortorn鈥檚 Anti-virus) lover, I just give insight from experience and professional training.

While Nortorn鈥檚 Anti-Virus has some issues with being a memory and cpu resource hog, it also uses that memory and cpu for a better scanning engine.

What others don鈥檛 tell you because they think their 鈥淔REE鈥?anti virus are better because they have it and couldn鈥檛 figure out Nortorn鈥檚 Anti-Virus is:

The top 4-6 Anti-Virus companies share the same database. These are companies that charge you for Anti-Virus and have some of the best think tanks in the world. One week McAfee might come up with risk assessment of a new virus and they get Props for finding it first and being the first company to find a cure for it. That doesn鈥檛 make them better; it鈥檚 just about who finds it first and bragging rights etc.

The newest threats in the last few years have come from what they call 鈥淏lended threats.鈥?

If you do some research on that term, you will find that is how most virus issues have found their way into the 鈥渇ree anti-virus鈥?programs. Those are some of the issues that I have fixed with users (former users of AVG etc..) on a monthly basis.

    Hello,

AVG Free Edition is the best Anti-Virus for free.

You have to update it every day.

PCTools antivirus is one of the best working free anti virus programs out there. It removed tools that wonderful paid for and updated Fsecure can't find. If he gets money pay for pctools spyware doctor and it upgrades the virus protection more. I would recommend installing it on safe mode (hit delete while booting)
I have at home avast for home i am very satisfied with him
Theres no really good FREE antivirus', simply because they don't get enough money to upgrade their product.

I would suggest using Spybot - Search %26 Destroy and Ad-Aware as spyware removers, and avast! as an anti-virus.

You might want to check out a NOD32 trial, I believe its the best antivirus so far.
In my honest opinion.... use avast. It has 12 month free regristration, and you can keep re-registering it. I been using avast for the last couple years and it is amazing! I even loaded it on all the computers in my office. Great free antivirus, with real time scan, and it updates the virus database in it everyday. This is your best bet.
